Finally some news about The Agency
June 23rd, 2009 |
This E3 was the first time in a long time I have had some news about The Agency game. You can check out an interview and an preview article, but we will give you some of the important information here.
One of the important things in the Agency is to not make it like most traditional MMOs like WoW or Age of Conan. In the agency you don’t have to choose a class that you stick to all the game. You have to decide on which faction you want to join, either ParaGON or U.N.I.T.E, but that is about it. To choose which role you want to play when you start a mission or do something, you put on the clothes you need to fulfill your role, and you get the skills.
It looks like one of the very important factors is to make it a shooter. The Agency is not a dice-rolling game where you autoattack until your target is dead. This is a shooter, which means your FPS-skills and reaction is the most important. This is something I think is a really refreshing style. I do like FPSers like Battlefield 2 or Battlefield Heroes, but you do not get the same MMORPG-feel as if you can do missions with your friends.
Another good thing is that it seems like the game is more or less complete, but there is still no beta test date, release date or even any information about how the game will be financed. It seems like Sony will try to release it on Playstation 3 and PC at the same time, but so far it looks like it will be separate servers for the two systems. Stay tuned for hopefully more updates soon!
